When the Liberty Day Institute was commissioned 18 years ago, our motto was simple: “A Constitution in every pocket.”

This remains one of our main goals today—to make sure that every American, but especially the next generation, has a copy of the Constitution readily available to them. We know that most students who get a copy probably will not casually read the document, but it is their personal copy to proudly keep.

That’s why the Liberty Day Institute is a sole-source provider of copies of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, along with educational materials on our nation’s founding documents, to schools.

However, we can only accomplish our mission of providing teachers with free, helpful, effective teaching resources with the financial help of organizations, businesses, individuals, and citizens like you! Read on to learn more about how you can help get these essential materials into the hands of 5th graders by adopting a class, a school, or a school district.

Past Success

In our 16 years teaching Americans about the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, the Liberty Day Institute has partnered with a number of service clubs, businesses, and other organizations who purchase and help distribute our materials to schools and school districts in their cities, counties, or states.

Recently, the Liberty Day Institute has reached out to the Federation of Republican Women and Federation of Democratic Women to help us with this worthwhile effort. In Texas, we formed an extraordinarily successful partnership with the Texas Federation of Republican Women. Because of the support of the various TFRW clubs across the state, who purchased and distributed the Constitution booklets, Q&A flashcards, and Teacher’s Packets for their communities, nearly 25,000 5th graders throughout the state learned what it means to be an American!

Similar programs have been completed in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming, thanks to local Wal-Mart stores; in Tennessee, thanks to a generous individual who contributed $10,000 for nearly 10,000 5th graders across the state; in Maine, with our partners, Marden’s Surplus and Salvage; and more!

How It Works

Everyone we work with has a passion for this country and everything it has to offer. They want to share that and open up the hearts and minds of kids to our nation’s foundations. We understand your commitment to certain ultimate goals and objectives that your organization has developed. That is why we believe in forming and cultivating a partnership with you and/or your group to make each and every program a success after which everyone involved eagerly awaits another round!

The Liberty Day Institute provides you with several different ways to join in the effort to teach kids what America is all about. One of the best ways to go about this is to work with your club or organization to purchase and distribute materials to schools in your state or area. Another method of getting these essential materials into the hands of 5th graders is to purchase the materials, after which the Liberty Day Institute will, if applicable, mail the materials directly to the schools.

To involve your club, business, or organization in this one-of-a-kind way of educating kids about what it means to be an American, e-mail Andy McKean, Founder and President Emeritus of the Liberty Day Institute, at Andy@LibertyDay.org. We’ll follow up shortly to begin the process!

You can also support your local school or district out of your own generosity. We’re happy to work with you to either mail purchased the materials to you or directly to the school. The Institute is currently working on an online adoption process, but for now, e-mail us at Mail@LibertyDay.org if you’re interested in supporting the next generation of Americans as an individual donor.
