With its wide array of exciting programs and initiatives, Liberty Day doesn’t just partner with organizations; oftentimes, Liberty Day projects take place because an individual—an attorney general, a mayor, a parent—took it upon him- or herself to make a difference in the lives of kids.
The beauty of Liberty Day’s Individual Volunteering project is simple: grade school-aged kids normally don’t experience visits from outside speakers. When an attorney, elected official, community member, or anyone else takes the time to talk to the kids, it adds value to the learning experience and really underscores for the kids the importance of the documents they’re learning about.
When a guest speaker instructs children, it’s not only teachers telling them about something from 230 years ago—it’s someone else who cares enough to come in and teach. Want to open up the hearts and minds of young people to what it means to be an American? Talk to them about your own passion and pride.
